Cunningham has such a wonderful voice! He guides the reader but refrains from judgement or narrow rules. It's a great beginner's guide and will leave you wanting more. After you read this you need to get his other publications. Cunningham lays out the foundation and inspires. This book includes a book of shadows, some herb listing, and all the basics of modern Wicca. It's a classic. I've become a huge fan, and this book was the start. I think it's very important simply cause there is a strong emphasis on being a part of a coven in most other books. I still don't feel safe coming out into the real world and feel like people would laugh at me for calling myself a Witch. I'm grateful for this book, it makes me feel safe.
